Software – a vital part
A vital part of any surveillance system is the software to download, manage and view video footage. Mobile surveillance is more than the publicly visible element; the camera.
In our previous blogs about surveillance we explained how all hardware parts, such as cameras, recorders and monitors are integrated into a seamless system. A less visible but an equally important part is the software.
Software that is used in mobile surveillance systems should be easy-to-use. Preferably it is designed in a way that it follows the user and does not overcomplicate matters. It should also ensure that all footage is accessible and is compatible with various camera systems, monitors and video recorders.
“Programs must be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute.” – Abelson / Sussman
Depending on the needs of the customer, software for CCTV systems will be adapted to country regulations. In some cases only certain people are allowed to view footage and the software should make that possible. In that sense no system that is installed is the same.
21st Century has a wealth of experience in installing various surveillance systems with software solutions in the UK and in Europe. Being a smart integrator we know how important it is to not only install the right software but also to start by asking our clients the right questions.
