21st Century aims to use this newly combined expertise and experience to become the UK’s leading smart integrator of public transport systems. 

21st Century will continue to develop its product portfolio, which includes passenger information systems, such as its market leading real time information displays and content management system (EPI4), smart ticket vending machines, validators and interactive terminals, as well as CCTV, passenger Wi-Fi, driver behaviour monitoring and passenger counting systems. 

Passenger Systems, formed from RSL, will be headed by Mike Boddy as Passenger Systems and Group Operations Director. Mark Johnson will continue his work within on-vehicle technologies as Director of Fleet Systems. Other functions such as finance and stock control have been centralised, in order to best deliver value to customers. 

As part of the company’s strategy to grow the business through developing software solutions for highly integrated technologies within the transport community, 21st Century has appointed Dr. Andrew Houghton as the Group’s Chief Technical Officer. Dr. Houghton has many years’ experience of developing software with a wide variety of applications, but particularly in the area of CCTV and video data. 

The company has also launched a Specialist Vehicles Unit in order to utilise the knowledge and expertise they have gained delivering mobile solutions to public service vehicles, to develop safety and security solutions for emergency, municipal and fleets of bespoke industry vehicles.
